Instructions for setting up Outlook 2003 to use RPC over HTTP
for accessing a Technology Services Group hosted Exchange mailbox

  1. Initial note: You MUST perform the following instructions using Internet Explorer 7.0 and Outlook 2003. Other web browsers and email applications will not work with these instructions. Please contact Tech Support at 859-282-4030 for help with these instructions or if you want to use another email application to access your email and need assistance with setup.
  2. Open https://www.technogrp.net in Internet Explorer. 
  3. Click on the link.
  4. Click on the Certificate Error in the address bar.
  5. Click on View Certificates at the bottom of the box that appears.
  6. Click on the Install Certificate... button.  
  7. Click on Next... button.
  8. Select the radio button next to the 2nd line then click Browse.
  9. Select Trusted Root Certification Authorities and click on OK.  
  10. You may be prompted with the following warning. If so, click on Yes.
  11. Click Next... and Finish. buttons. Click on the OK button.
  12. To verify the installation worked change the address in the browser to https://mail.technogrp.net and look for the lock symbol in the address bar.If it does not show up please try saving this link to do an alternate install of the certificates#1#2 (Please call TSG Support for instructions on this if needed).

  14. Open the Control Panel, then double-click on the Mail icon.
  15. Click on the Email Accounts... button.
  16. If Outlook has already been configured to access your email via VPN or some other method, select View or change existing email accounts, click Next and skip to step 19. If this is the first time setting it up choose Add a new email account.
  17. Choose Microsoft Exchange Server and click Next.
  18. Type tsg-exch01.technogrp.local in the Microsoft Exchange Server box, check the Use Cached Exchange Mode, type your name in the User Name field.
  19. Click on the More Settings... button.
  20. Click on the Connection tab. Check the box for Connect to my Exchange mailbox using HTTP. Click on the Exchange Proxy Settings... button.
  21. Type mail.technogrp.net in the first field. Check the box for Mutually authenticate and type msstd:mail.technogrp.net in the next field. Uncheck the box for Fast networks and check the box for Slow networks. Choose Basic Authentication from the drop down box.  
  22. Click OK then click on the Security tab. If you don't want to be prompted for your password more than the first time you open Outlook after finishing this setup you can clear the check box for Always prompt for user name and password.
  23. Click OK, Next and Finish. Click on Close.
  24. Open Microsoft Outlook. You will get prompted for your username and password. Type TECHNOGRP\xxxxx where xxxxx is your username (usually this is your first initial and last name) in the username field. Type your password in the Password field. Click on OK.
  25. Congratulations! You're now setup to use Outlook 2003 with RPC over HTTP.
